Not much to report

17 July, 2008 (14:08) | Crafting | By: User ImageKim

When I think back on these last three weeks of what I’ve accomplished in my crafting world, I am kind of getting depressed.  It seems like some minor crises or another has taken over my world and I haven’t been able to get much accomplished.  I have started (barely) on my father in law’s wedding present and I did make a couple of bracelets.  But that’s been it.  I think probably the next month or so things are going to go this way as well.  I have so many things coming up in the near future that I really can’t see me accomplishing a lot.  So for today I really have nothing to report or show you.  Hopefully soon I will.

Who’s up for a contest??

10 July, 2008 (14:55) | Crafting, General | By: User ImageKim

I really do love contests! Who wouldn’t love the chance to win something for free?? My favorite type of contest has definitely got to be a crafting contest. And it’s just icing on the cake when it’s held by one of my favorite craft bloggers. Yes, I would be talking about the creator over at craft therapy.

Right now the Craft Junkie (I really do get a kick out of that name) is holding an awesome contest to celebrate her birthday. She is giving away a customized bracelet to one lucky participant (hopefully that’ me LOL). But because I’m such a nice person I have decided to share this chance with you all. It’s super easy to get into her contest with several chances to win. You can do a post a post about her contest on your blog, leave her a comment that you entered and subscribe to her blog feed.

Easy right?! So what are you waiting for? You only have until July 24 to enter so get moving. Oh yeah, and tell her Kim sent ya!

I need help!

29 June, 2008 (21:45) | Jewelry making, Crafting | By: User ImageKim

Well my jewelry making activities are almost at an end.  I have enough wire left to make five more bracelets and when they are finished I will have run out of wire.  I don’t want to purchase any more supplies until I sell some more items so I’ll be using my profit money to buy these supplies and not our household funds.

This is where you all come in.  I do have enough materials to make about 20 pairs of earrings, but for the life of me I can’t figure out how to get the top wire wrapped around the strait pins.  Someone told me that I needed a small pair of needle nose pliers so I went out and purchased them, but still haven’t been able to master the art of making earrings.

So for all you experts out there, this question is going out to all  of you.  How do you get your wire wrapped around the strait pin?  Is there a trick that I’m not aware of?

I’m thanking you all in advance for any help and assistance that you may be able to give me in this matter.

This blog has been featured

16 June, 2008 (14:38) | Crafting, General | By: User ImageKim

This is way cool!! Tony over at Moolah Blog! is doing some reviews on sites that he appreciates and he has picked this blog as his very first feature. Now your all probably wondering why he chose my crafting blog for his feature and I’m going to tell you why.

Last week Tony indicated that he would like to make a purchase of one of my pieces of jewelry that I have currently for sale. After a few e-mails back and forth, we were able to come up with a piece that he wanted to buy for his “special someone” and we worked out a deal. He placed the order and I shipped it. He was a wonderful buyer and I also got to know a little about his personality through this e-mails as well. He is very generous with his time and he is also a really nice guy.

So if you’d like to read about all the wonderful things Tony had to say about this site and me, then why not drop by his site. Tell him Kim sent you. And if you would like your own review from him, all you need to do is ask.

Thanks for your wonderful review Tony and I can’t wait until you get your package and are able to give it to your special lady!

The crafter behind the crafting

11 June, 2008 (23:03) | Miscellaneous, Crafting | By: User ImageKim

So I have been posting on this blog quite steadily for the past month now and decided that it’s probably time for you all to meet me face to face.

Well this is me. Ball cap and all. It is very rare that I ever go without my ball cap so I thought it was only fitting that I show you all a picture of me in one. I always like blogs that show a picture of the owner so you get to put a face with the name. Although it’s not a wonderful glamourous picture of me, it is a picture of the real me. I look quite honest now don’t I?? LOL So if you’ve been wondering “who is Kim”, now you know.

Not much crafting done

5 June, 2008 (19:25) | Crafting, General | By: User ImageKim

With hubby home this past week, I haven’t been able to work on any crafts.  When he’s home it’s worse than having the two younger kids home.  He seems to need more care. lol  He is always wanting to run the roads or spend time with me.  I guess there could be worse things in life.

He goes back to work next week so hopefully I will get back at the crafting once again.  I have two weeks left before the kids are out of the school for the summer so I would like to get as much done as I can in these next two weeks.  With two little people home and underfoot I can’t see me having a whole lot of time to devote to my crafting business.  But we will see.  And what doesn’t get done over the summer will get completed in September.

Motivation has returned!!

29 May, 2008 (10:52) | Plastic Canvas, Crafting | By: User ImageKim

It’s amazing how these things happen now isn’t it??   Yesterday I was cleaning out my room and I came across some of my plastic canvas supplies.  I haven’t made anything with plastic canvas in years, but when I did do them I really enjoyed creating things out of plastic canvas.  A couple of months ago I downloaded a couple of patterns for bath sets but kind of put them away and forgot about them.  But with finding all my supplies yesterday I have decided this is something that I want to do now.  It’s different then what I have been doing and it’s an easy craft to do.  So when I finally get these sets made I’ll post the pictures and they will be another thing to add to my selling inventory.

Yeah!  It didn’t take me six months to get me back in the groove.

Problems with crafting

26 May, 2008 (13:32) | Crafting | By: User ImageKim

As you all know I honestly do love to make crafts.  I love doing them so much that I have been trying to turn my hobby into a job.  But right now that’s not going too well.  One of the main reasons why this isn’t going the way I want it to is because I lack motivation.  Yeah, I know the more crafts I produce the better the opportunity will be for me to make some cash.  But even money doesn’t seem to be a huge motivator for me.  I don’t know if this is because it has started getting nicer out and I’d rather be outside than inside creating or if it’s because I’m getting bored with my current crafts and just don’t want to do them.

But have no fear I have been here before and eventually my motivation does come back.  I’m just hoping that it doesn’t take me six or seven months like it did last time.  But until the motivation returns there is really no point in worrying about it as worry won’t motivate me.

When your motivation bites the bullet what do you do to get it back?

Cleaning out the closets

21 May, 2008 (13:47) | Crafting, General | By: User ImageKim

Since Saturday we have been having some pretty crappy weather.  It has been raining non stop so going outdoors and getting some work done out there has not been an option.  So I have decided that it is a perfect time to clean out my craft closet.  My goodness I didn’t realize the amount of junk stuff that I have hoarded away.

This is just a little example of all the supplies I have on hand.  I have a closet full (sorry Daniel.  It’s my son’s closet) of fabric and yarn (and when I say full, I mean jam packed).  I have three, three drawer stands full of scrapbooking supplies, more fabric, more yarn, books, cross stitch supplies and plastic canvas supplies.  I also have three totes filled full of jewelry supplies.  And…can’t forget my sewing table full of sewing supplies (over 100 spools of thread).

So after checking out all the stash I have and realizing I can’t throw a thing away, I have decided that I really either need to get started on some serious crafting projects (to eliminate the junk stuff) or find another closet.  What do you all think??  Another closet??

Site update

8 November, 2007 (15:16) | General Crafts, Crafting | By: User ImageKim

As you can all see, this site is pretty much brand new with not a whole lot of content in it YET.  There is a reason for this.  That’s because I don’t have a whole lot of crafts finished that are ready for sale yet.  I have been working quite steadily on a couple of quilts and I just received my first jewelry kit in the mail so I will be working on this craft as well.  I have posted a couple of pictures so you can get a small glimpse into what will eventually be on sale and I welcome you all to come back again for another peak real soon.
