Redoing the blog

30 July, 2008 (14:22) | Crafting Business | By: User ImageKim

Although I set this blog up a few months back, I haven’t really done a whole lot to it.  Yes, I post as much as I can about crafting on it and upload a few pictures, but somewhere along the line I lost the focus of this blog.  The focus of this blog was to attract possible visitors and purchasers to this site to try to sell some of my homemade crafts.  Well so far that hasn’t happened.  So I have decided that I need to give this blog a make over and possibly get back on track.

So over the next few days you are going to see some changes going  on around here.  The template will stay the same as I really do like it.  But I’m going to add separate pages for the different types of crafts I create.  And I will be uploading a lot more pictures, descriptions and prices.

I am quite happy with my decision to do this blog make over and hopefully I don’t lose my focus again.  When it’s all finished, I would love to know what you all think.

Not much done

25 July, 2008 (17:17) | Crafting | By: User ImageKim

Although my husband was a sweetie and bought me the wire I need to continue to make more jewelry, I still haven’t managed to accomplish much.  It’s been to darn hot to do any amount of bead work.  I actually tried to make a necklace the other night, but it was so hot that all the beads were sticking to my hands and just frustrating me.  So I put the beads away and will try again after it cools down some.  So really nothing to report except for “there is nothing to report”.  LOL

Funny story

21 July, 2008 (17:15) | Homemade Jewelry | By: User ImageKim

As you all know I ran out of beading wire so I had decided not to purchase any more until I can sell some of the things I already have made.  Well I guess I forgot to tell my husband of my plans.  The other day he asked me why I wasn’t beading any more.  So I told him I ran out of wire and wasn’t going to purchase any more until I sell some stuff.  He then asked if I  had any beads left over and I told him “yes, a ton of them”.

Well…he came home from town yesterday and threw a bag at me.  Yes, he had purchased me some wire.  So…I guess you all know what I’ll be doing once again.  I can’t see these supplies go to waste, so I’m going to use them up.  Hopefully I’ll be able to sell most of it at a couple of craft sales and a yard sale.  Otherwise, I’m going to have a lot of inventory on hand.  The good thing is, is that jewelry doesn’t go bad so I guess it doesn’t really matter if I have to keep the jewelry on hand for a couple of months.

Well, I’m off to create.  See ya all later.

Not much to report

17 July, 2008 (14:08) | Crafting | By: User ImageKim

When I think back on these last three weeks of what I’ve accomplished in my crafting world, I am kind of getting depressed.  It seems like some minor crises or another has taken over my world and I haven’t been able to get much accomplished.  I have started (barely) on my father in law’s wedding present and I did make a couple of bracelets.  But that’s been it.  I think probably the next month or so things are going to go this way as well.  I have so many things coming up in the near future that I really can’t see me accomplishing a lot.  So for today I really have nothing to report or show you.  Hopefully soon I will.

Jewelry making going on the back burner

14 July, 2008 (15:35) | General Crafts, Cross stitch | By: User ImageKim

Last week my father in law announced to the family that he is getting married.  It was a huge shock to the entire family as he has only known this woman for about two months and his wife (my husband’s mother) has only been gone since September of last year.  But my husband and I have decided to make the best of it.  The man is almost 70 so he has his mind made up and there is no changing it.

So I have decided to make them a unicorn cross stitch picture as a wedding present.  And because this pattern takes me so much time to do I will be devoting all my crafting activities to this one project.  Everything else will be put on hold until I get this done.  But I will be posting  pictures of my progress and if this cross stitch is something that you would like to own, just let me know and I have no problems making another one.

Who’s up for a contest??

10 July, 2008 (14:55) | Crafting, General | By: User ImageKim

I really do love contests! Who wouldn’t love the chance to win something for free?? My favorite type of contest has definitely got to be a crafting contest. And it’s just icing on the cake when it’s held by one of my favorite craft bloggers. Yes, I would be talking about the creator over at craft therapy.

Right now the Craft Junkie (I really do get a kick out of that name) is holding an awesome contest to celebrate her birthday. She is giving away a customized bracelet to one lucky participant (hopefully that’ me LOL). But because I’m such a nice person I have decided to share this chance with you all. It’s super easy to get into her contest with several chances to win. You can do a post a post about her contest on your blog, leave her a comment that you entered and subscribe to her blog feed.

Easy right?! So what are you waiting for? You only have until July 24 to enter so get moving. Oh yeah, and tell her Kim sent ya!

Sweet Home Blogger Award

7 July, 2008 (19:47) | General | By: User ImageKim

First of all I need to thank Lynne for presenting me with this wonderful award. I am extremely honored that she likes this site as well as my creations as much as she does. It gives me goosebumps when I know someone appreciates all the hard work that goes into creating crafts. And since she is a crafter herself, she can appreciate my hard work. So Thank You Lynne for this wonderful award. I really do appreciate it.

Update on jewelry making

4 July, 2008 (12:29) | Jewelry making | By: User ImageKim

Well this hasn’t been a very good week at all for any type of crafting. I have done absolutely nothing! I have both the kids home this week and when their around, I just can’t concentrate. And we all know that when your creating jewelry, you need a lot of concentration. But they both will be going back to art camp next week so I’m hoping I’ll get more accomplished when they are out of the house.

I only have enough wire left over to make five more bracelets and then I’m done for a while. I would like to be able to sell some of the inventory I have in stock now before purchasing any more supplies. So after these bracelets are made I am then going to take a stab at trying to make some earrings. With the links that Jeannine so graciously supplied me with, I’m hoping I can teach myself.

So I’m just going to enjoy this nice up coming weekend with the family (camping) and on Monday I’ll be back at the crafts.

ps. Happy 4th of July to all my American blogging buddies. I hope you all have a fun and save holiday weekend!
